WILBRAHAM POLICE ENDORSE NICK COCCHI FOR SHERIFF!
Nick Cocchi, has earned another local police union's endorsement, this time from the Wilbraham Police Department, New England Police Benevolent Association, Local 120.
"We have such strong support right now in Wilbraham; from residents and community and business leaders, so to have earned the endorsement of the town's police union is especially gratifying for our campaign. Wilbraham's police are extremely effective, especially in both crime and opioid abuse prevention measures and I am looking forward to opportunities to work with them as Sheriff for the benefit of the town and all of Hampden County, " said Cocchi.
"Every time I have had the opportunity to meet with local law enforcement in my years as a member of the Hampden County Sheriff's Department, in my present position as Assistant Superintendent, and now, as a candidate for Sheriff, I leave the meetings with more knowledge and ideas about how we can do even more together. My announcement almost two years ago of establishing a Regional Lock-up, in coordination with any of the 23 cities and towns in Hampden County who wanted the support of our Department in this way, came out of early conversations with municipal police departments,” said Cocchi.
“I’ve coached hockey at Minnechaug Regional High School and I’ve seen the respect that some of young players have had for the efforts of the Wilbraham Police Department in being involved early with guidance and advice for students. As Sheriff, it will continue to be a priority for me to keep the Department engaged and working effectively with the local police departments, sharing information and educational efforts in the classrooms. Great lines of communication with local police officers is one of the fundamentals that can help us make sure that someone who might otherwise became a ward of our facility, might instead get the intervention and guidance they need to avoid incarceration,” said Cocchi.
